Chinese LED Screen Manufacturer Vs. Customer: Round #2

Here's the second round of our virtual match between, on the right corner, the electronic billboard manufacturers from China and, on the left corner, the potential Customers from the rest of the word. Today I'm publishing a second message I got from Tom (see the first email here) and another message I received from Asia (and Edwin seems to be more a Customer than a Vendor).

Following the suggestion of a friend, I removed the comments I initially posted.

Considering your comments [in the previous post], I want to say some points:

1. Nichia and Cotco, Cree and AXT, Genelite, Toyota Gosei, Taiwan are chips makers, all led company buy chips or lamps from them. Including Barco, Lighthouse, Daktronics... but now China can makes chips themselves. Such Silan, San'an... better than famous brand now for indoor SMD. But price is much lower.

2. There is balance among price, quality and service. Another text says: 1/5 of USA or European price is acceptable if buying from China, but 1/2 or 1/3 is not acceptable. Here cost should be put into consideration: Sunshaders, glues, ICs, lamps, PCB boards, panels, control system, connectors, structures... it is not hard to know each cost. If the same materials, USA uses them, China uses them, which one is more money? Then labours cost is different, of course, and other costs: rental factory, tax, the machines, equipments, techniques, QCs...  And it is hard to tell even you pay the same money or 1/2 or 1/5.

3. China is a big country. [...] last year there is many companies about LED, this year even more. [...] so a bad choice of supplier can not show what China LED is.

4. Personally, LCD is better than LED for some places, if been in Shanghai, would have seen the bus stop signs, all are shining... but I would have put all into LCD if I could. LCD is easier to be controlled than LED billboard. Or cancel all, because ads does work on me...

We are from Asia, in the end whether you buy a Chinese screen or not depend on your risk appetite. Most Chinese manufacturer's do not necessary have their own technology they merely re-engineer others and copy them.

Without the depth of understanding, the result is what may happen eg. in the case of Juan with the Korean product even if the LED used is of "quality" brands. They still do not necessarily understand the technology.

At installation, anything can happen even with good quality screens. When that happens, the original maker (usually non-Chinese) provides the assurance and comfort because they designed and build. So, which do you prefer the choice is yours.
