Recently I'm receiving many feedbacks about your approach to the Chinese LED Screens, in response to this article.
The most interesting and noteworthy is the letter from a start-up company the middle of a feasibility study, with all its related considerations and doubts.
I found the letter so interesting when I first received it, that I decided to publish it after a few lines, long before I read the last paragraph. And I'd like to join Frederic in his final request: Any and all comments to this letter are strongly encouraged!!!
LETTER STARTS HERE:
Did You Buy A Chinese LED Screen?
No, I haven't. I am seriously looking at my options, however.
Chinese manufacturers offer various degrees of quality and price that are surely something any start-ups will consider prior to making a purchasing decision.
Sure, most European or North American manufacturers will usually offer the greater quality, coupled with a true customer service, but is the price difference really worth it?
The other day, I had an impromptu visit from [Big Multinational Name] quoting me a 12.5 sq. meter screen for 145,000 Euros for the screen, 15,000 Euros for the frame and another 30,000 Euros for the servicing and other "Benefits" totaling close to 200,000 Euros "before" all other related expenses (placing the screen on the street, running costs etc); another Bulgarian manufacturer quoted me about 5,000 Euros per square meter...
Chinese manufacturers (CE certified etc) that I have shortlisted after a couple of months investigating would offer the same size for circa $40,000 without installation and/or frame...
As my concluding words with the [Big Multinational Name] guys, I said: "Should your prices be 2 to 3 times more than the Chinese', I would think about it; at close to 5 times and above of the Chinese' (prices), you need to think about it"...

Are Digital Billboard dangerous for drivers? This is a debate that have been going on for years.
But today I read a press-release about two different recent studies, conducted by Tantala Associates and the Virginia Tech Transport Institute. Both studies analyzed the possible link between digital billboards and vehicle accidents.
And the good news is that according to both studies, LED screens are NOT dangerous!
Here is what Mr Albert M. Tantala, from Tantala Associates says: “The analysis and statistics in Cuyahoga County demonstrate that digital billboards have no statistically significant relationship with the occurrence of accidents”
And here are the conclusion of the Virginia Tech Transport Institute: "The overall conclusion from this study is that the presence of billboards does not cause a measurable change in driver behavior, in terms of visual behavior, speed maintenance, or lane keeping."

Following the post titled "Did You Buy a Chinese LED Screen?" please find below the results of a related survey we conducted on this blog during the last month of June.
The question was "Would You Invest in a Chinese LED Screen?" and that's what our readers answered:
14% NO - I don't consider them reliable
65% MAYBE - if the company provides a good warranty and after-sales support
21% YES - the lower price is absolutely appealing
I have to say I expected such results: of course everybody would like to spend less if granted with the same (or similar) warranty and the certainty of a present and reliable after-sale support.
So the important question now is: "If you bought a chinese LED video wall, how's your feedback on the equipment and the company?". Please let us know by leaving a comment or sending me an email.

A question that I'm increasingly being asked about is "Are Chinese digital billboards and companies reliable?".
Their considerably lower cost represents an opportunity that is surely worth considering. But it is difficult for me to answer this question without resulting biest, so I decided to ask our audience what's their direct experience.
If you already purchased a Chinese or Asian electronic billboard, please let us know your feedback and share your positive/negative experience with us. We would like to know:
- Type of screen that you bought
Is it for indoor or outdoor use? Is it used for advertising, rental or sport?
- Feedback on the screen after the installation
Are you happy with it? Did you experience any particular problem or benefit?
- Your experience with the company, before and after the sale
Are they professional and reliable? Are they being supportive after the purchase as much as they were before?
To share your experience, please leave a comment by CLICKING HERE or write me an email at the following email address:
Thanks in advance for sharing your experience.

Asking how much a digital billboard cost, is like asking how much a car cost. Such kind of questions can only have one answer. It depends. On all the following 5 variables:
1- SIZE: do you need a Smart Car or a BMW X5 (i.e. what are the dimensions of the LED screen you want to install?)
2- POWER: do you want to drive it at race circuits or you need it just to do the grocery? (i.e. what's the resolution of the LED screen?). Note for beginners: resolution = distance between the pixels: the closer they are, the better is the image at shorter viewing distances.
3- RELIABILITY: premium car brands use premium materials and are therefore able to provide longer warranties (i.e. so do electronic billboards' manufactures)
