Are Digital Billboard dangerous for drivers? This is a debate that have been going on for years.

But today I read a press-release about two different recent studies, conducted by Tantala Associates and the Virginia Tech Transport Institute. Both studies analyzed the possible link between digital billboards and vehicle accidents.

And the good news is that according to both studies, LED giant screens are NOT dangerous!

Here is what Mr Albert M. Tantala, from Tantala Associates says: “The analysis and statistics in Cuyahoga County demonstrate that digital billboards have no statistically significant relationship with the occurrence of accidents”

And here are the conclusion of the Virginia Tech Transport Institute: "The overall conclusion from this study is that the presence of billboards does not cause a measurable change in driver behavior, in terms of visual behavior, speed maintenance, or lane keeping."

A question that I'm increasingly being asked about is "Are Chinese LED screens and companies reliable?".

Their considerably lower cost represents an opportunity that is surely worth considering. But it is difficult for me to answer this question without resulting biest, so I decided to ask our audience what's their direct experience.

• Type of screen that you bought
  Is it for indoor or outdoor use? Is it used for advertising, rental or sport?
• Feedback on the screen after the installation
  Are you happy with it? Did you experience any particular problem or benefit?
• Your experience with the company, before and after the sale
  Are they professional and reliable? Are they being supportive after the purchase as much as they were before?

Asking how much a LED screen cost, is like asking how much a car cost. Such kind of questions can only have one answer. It depends. On all the following 5 variables:

1- SIZE: do you need a Smart Car or a BMW X5 (i.e. what are the dimensions of the LED screen you want to install?)

2- POWER: do you want to drive it at race circuits or you need it just to do the grocery? (i.e. what's the resolution of the LED screen?). Note for beginners: resolution = distance between the pixels: the closer they are, the better is the image at shorter viewing distances.

3- RELIABILITY: premium car brands use premium materials and are therefore able to provide longer warranties (i.e. so do LED screens' manufactures)

As we can very well understand from the question of the past article, if you live in a Country were there is not a precise law regulating the installation of LED screens, than submitting the proposal can be very frustrating. Without a national law, each City Hall decides at its own judgment to give or not the permit, therefore you don't know what the rules of the game are.

I just got these questions via the yellow note on the right menu: "Is here any danger for PING (delay time between computer that gives signal-commercial, and receiver, in our case LED billboard. Result would be commercial running with delays)? Also, is there any chance to "interfere" (in a way of viruses, and other treats that are common in computer-internet area)? Thanks for all."

These questions are very smart because they take into consideration one of the key aspects of the LED screen: the management system. This is a key aspect because, despite image quality, reliability and price considerations - you need to USE your LED display!
